The new life of the Aspria Tennis Cup

From 2 to 9 July 2023 the ATP Challenger Tour Tournament “ASPRIA TENNIS CUP” is back on the red clay courts of the ASPRIA Harbor Club in Milan. For the first time, the competition will be played in the first week of Wimbledon, ensuring a marked improvement in the field of participation.

An important choice, made to continue to grow after sixteen successful editions. For the first time since 2006, the ASPRIA Tennis Cup – BCS Trophy changes date and increases in prize money. A small but significant change: historically placed in the week of the Wimbledon qualifiers, this year the ATP Challenger of Milan, an event organized by the Aspria Harbor Club in collaboration with Makers and with the contribution of the Lombardy Region, will be played from 2 to 9 July, at the club, in conjunction with the first week of the Championships. Seven days that change everything, because – for the first time – Milan will be able to intercept players usually unable to come, raising the average level of the field of participation. A choice strongly desired by the tournament director Massimo Lacarbonara and by the president of the organizing committee Carlo Alagna, and shared by Umberto Rianna, responsible for the Over 18s on behalf of the FITP (with which the tournament shares a fruitful collaboration) . Speaking with the managers of the Aspria Harbor Club – for 30 years the temple of tennis in the San Siro area with its 18 courts on four different surfaces (plus 4 for padel) available to all racket lovers – the well-known coach from Campania immediately approved the idea, stating that the first week of July would guarantee a lavish upgrade to the tournament. This is the most important novelty of one of the longest-running ATP Challengers, which this year will be part of the “75” category and will be giving away a prize pool of 73,000 euros. The last memory is the victory of Federico Coria: last year, the Argentine claimed the status of seed number 1 and won in the final against the rampant Francesco Passaro.

DOUBLE BY INVITATIONS FOR JOURNALISTS AND MANAGERS

The 22-year-old from Perugia himself is part of a long list of young Italians on the launch pad, as evidenced by the results of the last few months. The tournament program has been confirmed by the now consolidated organizational staff, supported by a club accustomed to big events: during the year, in fact, thanks to its strong expertise in the discipline, the Harbor promotes numerous other tennis and padel tournaments such as the Exclusive Padel Cup of Intesa San Paolo or the Torneo Avvenire, the famous competition dedicated to young tennis promises recently held from 10 to 18 June. As always, the Makers organization is very active in creating and managing special events that will make the tournament even more engaging for the public and players. One of the new initiatives (but there are many others) concerns a doubles tournament (by invitation) reserved for journalists and company managers, scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 7 July (starting at 16). The initiative has already met with great success, not only because there is a super prize up for grabs: a “La Compagnie” round-trip flight for two people to New York in business only.

SUSTAINABILITY AND TICKETING

Confirming a story that sees the tournament always very attentive to the environment, the 2023 edition will have some good news. Numerous water dispensers and BCS ecological bottles will be available at the Aspria Harbor Club Milano, which will follow what happened at the recent Roland Garros: in this way, players, chaperones and staff will be able to exponentially reduce plastic consumption , in compliance with the policy of the Department of Sport of the Lombardy Region, fully shared by the title sponsor BCS. Admission for the public will be free until Thursday 6 July, then there will be more options for the weekend, from the traditional ticket to the new VIP Pack: these are valuable coupons that will guarantee guests a dedicated welcome, a special gadget and a privileged view a stone’s throw from the field. All coupons are available on TicketOne. All of this is the ASPRIA Tennis Cup – BCS Trophy, the event that knows how to combine great tennis and entertainment, all in a spectacular setting. The appointment is Sunday 2 July, with the first matches of the qualifications.

ASPRIA Harbor Club

In 2009, the Harbor Club became part of the Aspria Collection which, with its clubs, spas and hotels, now serves over 35,000 members. Aspria is a prestigious and award-winning group that brings together the best private sports, wellness and family clubs, hotels and spa centers throughout Europe. The extensive “collection” extends from Brussels, Berlin, Hamburg and Hanover to Milan; it is characterized by a high-quality offer, with personalized services to meet the needs of each member. Between 2001 and 2012 Aspria has grown from one club (the opening of the Aspria club in Brussels dates back to June 2001) to eight (Aspria Uhlenhorst in Hamburg was opened in March 2012), also incorporating the hotel offer in Hamburg, Hanover, Berlin and at Aspria Royal La Rasante in Brussels.
